Fleshgod Apocalypse Finish Work on “Mafia”

Italy’s FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE has finished work on its second release, titled Mafia. Vocalist Paolo Rossi comments:

“The album focuses on the connection between racketeering and illness. Itss like a hidden sickness that consumes us from deep within and that can’t be erased, unless you decide to wake up and face it. Mafia is like an octopus, whose tentacles grab everyone’s free will, and pushes everybody in fear. Mafia is dedicated to all the people who lost their life fighting against these criminals.” Paolo Rossi

The EP was recorded, mixed and mastered at 16th Cellar Studio in Rome by Stefano “Saul” Morabito. The cover artwork can be found at this location.

Killswitch Engage Not Breaking Up or Ditching Howard Jones

Last week, it was announced that KILLSWITCH ENGAGE vocalist Howard Jones had to unexpectedly leave the band’s current headlining tour, leading to a flurry of rumors and questions about the status of the tour and the band.

The band has further issued the following statement addressing the matter, saying:

“It became overwhelmingly obvious to all of us around Howard that he is in no condition to be on tour right now and that he needed to get off the road and get himself better. It’s a personal matter and while we understand everyone’s curiosity and concern for Howard and the band, we appreciate everyone respecting Howard’s privacy at this time.”

Longtime friend Phil Labonte of ALL THAT REMAINS was able to fill in and help out the band for a few shows and it appears as though he will be filling in for the remainder of the tour, which runs through March. KILLSWITCH ENGAGE endured and survived a similar situation in the past, where guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz was forced to sit out a tour due to a back injury.

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE also said:

“We seriously considered cancelling the tour since we don’t want to give fans that paid good money anything less than KsE at full-strength. But after trying a few shows with Phil, and after feeling the love and support that we were getting from the crowd, it became increasingly apparent to us that the shows came across as fun and unique, and the fans seemed to be enjoying it. We quickly realized that we had to keep going and that we couldn’t possibly stop.” Refunds are available for any fans that have already purchased tickets, but as the band said, this tour will offer a chance to experience KsE in a unique way that you won’t be able to witness again. We really do feel that our fans are the best fans in the world. We can’t thank Phil enough for helping us out when we needed it the most.”

Novembers Doom Launch Video for “A Eulogy For the Living Lost”

NOVEMBERS DOOM finished a brand new video for the song “A Eulogy For the Living Lost.”

Filmed in Florida with the same director who created the video for “Autumn Reflection,” Tony Myles and Cage XXI have created a vision of a post apocalyptic television broadcast in “A Eulogy For The Living Lost.” This unique look was filmed with the custom made “Wartooth” camera.

Paul from NOVEMBERS DOOM goes on to say:

“We liked the idea of a gritty, and bleak look, all shot with a custom built camera rig, The Wartooth, consisting of pieces from one of the first video cameras to ever see the light of day. This thing was a beast, and created a very unique look. All the “ghosting” in the video, isn’t special effects, it’s the way the camera actually shot the footage. Tony Myles is brilliant, and has one of the most creative minds we’ve worked with.”

Machine Head’s “The Blackening” the ‘Best Album of the Decade’?

MACHINE HEAD’s Grammy-nominated album The Blackening has received numerous awards and enjoyed praise from both critics and fans alike since its release in 2007, and in the most recent issue of Metal Hammer magazine, The Blackening was recognized by fans and Metal Hammer staff as the #1 “Album of the Decade”.

Agree?

Here’s what they said:

“The Blackening is MACHINE HEAD’s finest album to date by one of the bands that most powerfully and vividly encapsulate everything that this magazine stands for and everything that our readers believe in. ‘The Blackening’ not only re-established MACHINE HEAD as one of the most important metal bands on the planet, but also made a mockery of the increasingly popular notion that the age of the album is dead. This was an album that demanded to be listened to in one skull-crushing, heart-warming, life-affirming hit, and then again and again and again, until every last muscle in our necks was ruined forever. ‘The Blackening‘ took the MACHINE HEAD sound into thrilling new territory that decimated the competition and ensured that their place in history was secured.”

Jesper Strömblad Leaves In Flames

Jesper Strömblad, guitarist in In Flames has decided to leave the band permanently.

“I have decided it is best for me to leave In Flames and to quit the band permanently.

The last 17 years have been a blast, and I am proud to have been part of this great journey, with the most talented and amazing people anyone can wish to have the privilege to work with.

I’m also the luckiest guy in the world, to have the BEST fans in the world, who have been supporting me during my difficult times. It means the world to me, and I’m determined to fight and defeat my demons once and for all.... and by the help from you guys, I’m on my way.

I’m far from done with music, metal, or whatever my direction is taking me, so be sure to hear from me in the future.

… May the Force be with you!" – Jesper Strömblad

We are losing a great guitar player and musician, but in order to keep a very dear friend this is probably for the best.

If this feels right for Jesper we are behind him 100% on his decision.

It is way too early to speculate about the future and possible replacements and things like that. However, we can assure you that In Flames will continue as a band, release albums and tour the World.

The door to In Flames is always open to Jesper. We are, and will always be behind Jesper 100% on his way to recovery.” – Anders, Peter, Daniel & Björn
